The Surrey Local Immigration Partnership (LIP) is looking for immigrants and newcomers interested in joining the Immigrant Advisory Table. If you are looking for ways to engage in building a welcoming and inclusive community, this opportunity is for you.
The Immigrant Advisory Table (IAT) is a volunteer roundtable with members representing a diversity of backgrounds, ages, cultures, languages, genders, education, and varying stages of settlement.
IAT is open to immigrants and newcomers who:
- Are residing, studying and/or working in Surrey
- Represent the diversity of Surrey (a range of countries of origin, length of time in Canada, immigration status, age, gender, occupational/educational backgrounds)
- Have experience, knowledge, and abilities related to immigration, community development and civic engagement
- Are open to learning and collaborating with community stakeholders
- Can commit to monthly meetings and working group engagements
IAT members roles and engagement:
- Attend and actively participate in six meetings per year (bi-monthly)
- Provide regular insights to the Surrey LIP Council
- Act as community ambassadors of Surrey LIP and assist with outreach to communities
- Participate in and/or co-lead Surrey LIP Strategic Working Groups related to immigrant and newcomer outcomes
Meetings will be held using a blended model of virtual and in-person. Members will be appointed for a period of one year and will be offered a honorariam.
