Bringing newcomer voices to the table.

The Surrey LIP Council saw a need to have the voice and input of Surrey immigrants and refugees included in its research and planning processes, so expanded its governance structure to include the direct participation of newcomers through roundtables.

The Surrey Advisory Committee brings together the voice and input of Surrey immigrants and refugees to the Surrey LIP Council’s research and planning processes.

Valuing the lived experiences of Middle Eastern and Arabic-speaking communities, this newcomer advisory roundtable provides updates, information and input to support the Surrey LIP’s decisions, planning and activities.

To support the Surrey LIP’s work, this roundtable brings the lived experiences and perspectives of the African and Black communities forward, offering the council updates, information and input.

It’s a place to build relationships between settlement service providers, local First Nations and Indigenous community groups and develop an Active Reconciliation Strategy, enabling the Surrey LIP and its members to approach reconciliation with an accessible, inclusive and equitable lens.
