Ethnic Organizations and Professional Immigrant Networks

This inventory presents a scan of ethnic and immigrant professional groups, networks and associations in BC. The focus of the scan was on Surrey and Metro Vancouver. It was developed by Surrey Libraries in 2016.

It aims to establish connections with Surrey-based professional immigrant networks. It also works to improve collaborations between cultural groups and networks, while improving Surrey LIP stakeholders’ awareness about and connections with ethnic and immigrant professional groups.

Afghan Benevolent Association of BC

Details: To unite the Afghan community and provide assistance in various ways which will improve the quality of their lives in Canada.


Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC - Immigrant Chapter

Details: To maintain, improve and increase the knowledge, ability and competence of technologists and technicians.


Association of Filipino Canadian Accountants - BC Chapter

Details: To promote professional development and continuing education among members, and to promote personal development among members and facilitate their assimilation in Canada’s professional markets.


Association of Chinese Cultural Promotion

Details: Social and recreational activities to promote multiculturalism. Lectures, photography exhibits, forums, Chinese holiday celebrations and more.


BC Muslim Association

Details: Community services include Hajj, dawah work, dealing with media and issues affecting Muslims, marriage and counselling services, youth services and halal certification program. Dedicated to developing and maintaining religious, cultural and educational facilities for present community and future generations.


BC Organization of Caribbean Cultural Associations

Details: Representing the concerns and interests of Caribbean nationals and neighboring countries, former nationals and their families living in BC. Promote awareness of Caribbean culture and presence in BC through events, meetings and networking.


Brazilian Community Association

Details: To preserve and represent the Brazilian Culture. Bring together and support the Brazilian community living in British Columbia.


C3 Korean Canadian Society

Details: Community organization of volunteers who embrace cultural diversity and work co-actively with each other groups to bridge the Korean and Canadian communities by providing cultural, educational and volunteer resources. Events for teens, mentoring for young professionals, and new services for Korean seniors.


Canada-China Society of Science and Technology

Details: Promote scientific and technical cooperation and personnel exchanges between the two countries, Canada and China; while helping overseas Chinese professionals to equal opportunities in Canada.


Canada Korea Business Association

Details: Our mission is to promote, foster and encourage trade, business and exchange between Canada and Korea for the benefit of our members.


Chinese Canadian Information Technology Association

Details: To support Chinese information technology professionals working in BC.


Chinese Real Estate Professionals Association of BC

Details: CREPA aims to advance the interests of licensed Chinese real estate practitioners and other real estate related professionals.


Chinese Village Club

Details: Social and recreational activities to promote multiculturalism.


Chinese Benevolent Association of Vancouver

Details: For more than 100 years, the Chinese Benevolent Association aims to promote Chinese equality and understanding of other community groups. Social activities, events and fundraising to promote multiculturalism are a part of this association.


Exatec Alumni Association

Details: Alumni association from the Tecnologico de Monterrey school in Mexico. Over 200 alumni in the Vancouver chapter.
