DESCRIPTION:Learn more about what it means to be a non-profit board member and how you can contribute in a meaningful way – to benefit both you and your community! \n\n\n\n\nVolunteering on (Non-Profit) Boards: Why and How to Join a Board workshop is designed specifically to help people from equity seeking groups\, such as people with disabilities\, people from Black and Indigenous communities and People of Colour\, and newcomers to Canada to build skills\, knowledge and confidence to participate in non-profit boards. \n\n\n\n\nIn this half-day workshop\, you will learn how to engage as a volunteer in your community\, which types of non-profit organizations work in British Columbia\, different structures\, types of non-profit leadership and decision making\, and what it means to be a Board member. \n\n\n\n\nVantage Point offers this workshop for free to individuals in BC with no or limited (less than one year) experience in non-profit board governance\, who are able to participate in English\, and who identify as one or more of the following:\n• Youth (aged 18-35)\n• Indigenous\n• Black\n• Person of colour\n• Person with disability\n• 2SLGBTQIA+\n• Newcomers to Canada \n\nTo register\, click here

SUMMARY:Capacity Development Lab: Strengthening Your Organization
DESCRIPTION:Lab Outline\n\n\n\n\nCapacity Development Lab is a blend of in-class learning and expert consulting. Our non-profit clients have seen transformative benefits through this guided self-assessment process. Members of our consulting team will work with you to build a Capacity Enhancement Plan for your organization. \nWe define capacity as the health of your organization in five areas:​ \n\nPrograms​\nGovernance​\nBusiness model​\nManagement​\nAdministrative Systems​\n\nSuggested participants: A few team members who want to conduct a deep review of your organization. This can include senior staff (Executive Directors\, CEOs\, general managers\, etc.) and non-profit board members. \nImportant note! Capacity Development Lab includes space for up to four individuals from your organization to participate. We recommend having your executive director (or most senior staff person) and one board member participate for the entire program. The additional spots can be alternated with different staff or board members for specific sessions\, depending on the topic relevance. \n\n\n\nLab Outcomes\n\n\n\n\nBy the end of this lab\, you will be able to: \n\nUnderstand the seven stages of your organization’s lifecycle.​\nAssess the five areas of your organizational capacity (programs\, management\, governance\, systems\, and financial resources).​\nGet clarity on your organizational development activities that offer the greatest impact.​\nDevelop a detailed organizational capacity enhancement plan.\n\n\n\nRegistration Details\n\n\n\n\nCapacity Development Lab is a three-month guided self-assessment process that blends virtual learning sessions with consultant advisory support between sessions. \nApplication Deadline: 2 weeks before the start date \nBursary Application Deadline: 1 month before the start date \nLocation: Online/Virtual \nCost: $2999 Non-Members | $2699 Members
