DESCRIPTION:Is your newcomer-serving organization in BC looking for ways to support young people with their mental health? \nAre your mental health and wellness staff looking for more resources to support young people who are newcomers and experiencing anxiety? \nThe YMCA is looking to partner with newcomer-serving organizations to pilot a delivery of YMCA Y Mind Newcomers\, an eight-week\, early-intervention\, newcomer-informed\, mental wellness program for newcomer young people experiencing anxiety. This program will be led by your own mental health/wellness staff who will receive program delivery training and funding. \nWe are excited to partner with BC community organizations to pilot the this program in their communities in 2025 and share their experience and feedback that wille play a vital role the final development of Y Mind for Newcomers. \nIf you answer YES to the following questions\, you may be a good fit for participating in the pilot for Y Mind Newcomers. \n\nOur organization serves newcomers to Canada 13-30\nOur organization has noticed the need for support for Newcomers to Canada in the community who experience mild-moderate anxiety.\nOur organization has at least two mental health/wellness staff with experience working with newcomers to Canada experiencing mild to moderate anxiety.\nOur appropriate staff have the availability to attend 10-12 hours of training and have availability to deliver an 8-week program.\nOur organization has strong partnerships with youth serving organizations/institutions and counselling services in the community who would refer newcomers to the program.\n\nYMCA Y Mind Newcomers Information Session open to all newcomer or immigrant-serving organizations across British Columbia who are interested in learning more about this pilot and partnership with YBC. \nIf you are in leadership or are wellness staff/counsellors/social workers from a newcomer-serving organization anywhere across BC and want to learn more\, we would love to see you on: \nDate: November 19\, 2024 \nLocation: Virtual (Zoom link sent upon registration) \nTime: 1:00pm PST \nFor more information see YMCA Y Mind Newcomers Information Session FAQ \nFor more information about the YMCA Mental Wellness programs\, see https://www.gv.ymca.ca/mental-wellness

Members of our consulting team will work with you to build a Capacity Enhancement Plan for your organization. \nWe define capacity as the health of your organization in five areas:​ \n\nPrograms​\nGovernance​\nBusiness model​\nManagement​\nAdministrative Systems​\n\nSuggested participants: A few team members who want to conduct a deep review of your organization. This can include senior staff (Executive Directors\, CEOs\, general managers\, etc.) and non-profit board members. \nImportant note! Capacity Development Lab includes space for up to four individuals from your organization to participate. We recommend having your executive director (or most senior staff person) and one board member participate for the entire program.
