Research and Consultation

The following projects reflect extensive community research and consultation to respond to stakeholders' needs throughout Surrey. They inform the development of the strategic plan and establish priorities and recommendations for action. This helps improve awareness of and access to available services and supports.

A. Immigrant and Integration Research

To enhance Surrey’s inclusivity this project explores the needs of newcomers and the public and their perceptions of how immigration has influenced their views of Surrey as a welcoming and inclusive community. Read more

B. Service Mapping Research

Service mapping is critical to effectively plan and identify community priorities and help stakeholders understand the existing immigrant services. This project will improve newcomers’ and community stakeholders’ awareness and access to the variety of existing services, while providing the LIP the opportunity to examine the needs of the community against Surrey’s existing service infrastructure. C. Refugee Settlement Priorities Research

Community research and consultation will reveal current views on the needs, barriers and challenges faced by Surrey’s refugee populations and identify solutions, actions and promising practices to enhance integration and inclusion.  The project has been designed to directly engage community stakeholders, Surrey’s civic and community leadership, and refugees themselves through its inclusive research process.

D. Labour Market Integration Research

Access to employment that maximizes immigrants’ experience, skills and abilities remains one of the most significant barriers to settlement and full integration. This project will identify Surrey’s current labour market needs and integration barriers from both newcomers’ and employers’ perspectives. Read more
