Volunteer Ambassadors in City of Surrey Recreation Centres.

The City of Surrey is looking for volunteers who speak another language other than English to become Volunteer Ambassadors in City of Surrey Recreation Centres. The volunteer ambassadors will assist in creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere in the recreation centres through; welcoming patrons of the facility, providing tours of the facility, and by providing information about programs, services and events. Roles will be diverse in nature; may involve working at different facilities, as well as working with various City staff and community agencies. 

Skills / Experience: 

  • Knowledge of another language other than English 
  • Interest in using your language abilities to help newcomer families connect with services in Surrey
  • Experience working in a team environment, collaborating with City of Surrey staff or other volunteers would be an asset
  • Quick learner, flexible and able to adapt to a variety of tasks and roles 
  • Experience and/or interest in working with newcomers to Canada 

Responsibilities: 

  • Answer questions pertaining to recreation centres programs, services and special events
  • Attend special events throughout the City, including new facility openings, to help provide a friendly, welcoming and exciting atmosphere, information on site amenities and way-finding assistance.
  • Support City staff and their partners by greeting and touring clients through the facility
  • Represent the City of Surrey when interacting with patrons and encouraging participation in relevant programs, services, special events etc.
