Our Projects

Since the launch of the Surrey LIP, our projects have made an impact.

The council has undertaken a variety of projects to help build an equitable and inclusive city. From informational guides to anti-racism campaigns to employment resources, the projects were developed out of research and strategies with the goal of seeing all immigrants, refugees and citizens thrive in Surrey.

Our newest project, the Surrey First Peoples Guide for Newcomers is a resource guide that addresses misconceptions about Indigenous people and provides clear information about the historic and current realities they experience.

In partnership with PeaceGeeks, the Racism Mapping Project (RAMP) is a community-led research project that gathers data around racism and hate incidents in Surrey, BC.

The Surrey Youth Newcomer Council (SYNC) aims to take on projects such as gathering feedback from youth newcomers, providing career empowerment and job search workshops, and utilizing digital media to help youth find community.

The Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing Initiative (CKSI) engages BC and Yukon Local Immigration Partnerships to co-create an equity-centered program design framework to help bridge Indigenous Peoples and newcomers.

The True Colours of Surrey project was a 2016 informational campaign to address racial discrimination issues in Surrey.

This online resource was created for Surrey-based employers to help them tap into immigrant talent pools to address local skill shortages.
